A Symphony of Community: The History of the Lompoc Pops Orchestra
Nestled in the heart of California’s Central Coast, the Lompoc Pops Orchestra has been a cornerstone of the local arts scene since its founding in 1996. Comprising approximately 45 talented musicians from the region, the orchestra has dedicated itself to bringing accessible, high-quality musical performances to the Lompoc community.

Our talented musicians play music that’s been around since the 1950s, and focuses on strong rhythms, simple tunes, often contrasted with rock, soul and other forms of popular music. Origins and Evolution
The orchestra was established with the mission to promote the love of music through a permanent, professional ensemble performing classical and pops concerts. Over the years, it has maintained a commitment to affordability, ensuring that music lovers of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy its concerts. Ticket prices have remained modest, with special rates for students and military personnel.
Leadership and Artistic Direction
Since 2015, the orchestra has been under the dynamic leadership of Artistic Director and Conductor Brian Asher Alhadeff. Maestro Alhadeff brings a wealth of experience from his roles with Opera San Luis Obispo and the State Street Ballet. His tenure has introduced Lompoc audiences to over 100 new works and commissions, infusing the orchestra with renewed energy and leading to acclaimed performances that resonate with audiences.
