UPCOMING CONCERT

“POPS” music offers its listeners a rich variety of music that is generally familiar, widely liked, appropriate for a full orchestra and has stood the test of time. It frequently includes works of George Gershwin, Leroy Anderson, Rogers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, John Williams, Irving Berlin, Henry Mancini, Glen Miller and a myriad of other famous composers. Fortunately for locals, THE LOMPOC POPS ORCHESTRA is dedicated to bringing this kind of music to its Central Coast patrons at a price that’s affordable and a time that’s family-friendly.

That said, the upcoming Sunday afternoon, June 22nd concert is slated to be a wonderful collection of Hollywood favorites. There’s a tribute to the great John Williams including his “Star Wars Throughout the Years” and another to Bob Hope featuring his famous “Thanks For The Memories.” Dr. Alhadeff has also added the theme from “Chariots of Fire,” the opening Title from “Shane” and the beautiful love song “More” after many requests for a repeat performance. There’s a fantastic James Bond Medley and, on the whimsical side, he’s included the Simpsons theme piece!
Special at the June concert, the Flower Festival Queen and her court will make an appearance and be available to meet with friends and family in the lobby.
The POPS ORCHESTRA is composed of many of the Central Coast’s finest musicians and performs four times a year at Lompoc’s First United Methodist Church, located at 925 North F Street in downtown Lompoc. Always open to audience input and suggestions, the concert performance day and time has been recently moved to Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. with the exception of the Christmas performance which remains an evening event.
Admission is $25.00 for adults, $5.00 for full-time students (with student I.D. shown at the door) and $5.00 for active-duty military members as well. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge with an attending adult.
